Call to Order: Made by Deborah Barnes

Approval of Minutes: Quorum was established and previous minutes were presented and move to accept was made by Jason Kaposy. Second by Deborah Barnes and approved.

Financial Report: Presented by Kendra Zamora ,motion was made by Deborah Barnes to approve. Second by Jason Kaposy.

Old Business:

Complaint 18-01- Rebecca Higgins has changed her taxonomy code from “Audiologist” to “Hearing Aid Dispenser”. Motion made to close complaint made by Deborah Barnes, second by Jenny Cross.

Discussion of insurance programs

Legislative updates

Personnel Matters: Motion was made by Deborah Barnes to submit raise for Kendra from $12/hr to $14/hr. Effective August 2018. Second by Jason Kaposy.

Board granted permission for Kendra to acquire a monthly parking space, when one would become available.

Remainder of meeting used to prepare for administering the practical examination beginning at 1pm.

WVBHAD Meeting 9/26/17

Attendees: Marsha Mattingly, George Evans, Jenny Cross, Deborah Barnes, and Kendra Zamora

Call to order: Meeting was called to order by Board president, Marsha Mattingly

Approval of Minutes: Quorum was established and previous meeting minutes were presented and move to accept was made by George Evans. Seconded by Deborah Barnes and approved.

Consideration of Complaint 17-01: Copy of refund was given to board and considered. George Evans moved to close complaint . Seconded by Deborah Barnes and approved.

Financial Report: Cash on hand: $33, 969.81
Annual Budget: $43,129.00
Total Revenue: $13,700.00

Motion to approve financial report made by George Evans, seconded by Jenny Cross and approved.

Discussion of Complaint 18-01, waiting for dealer to make needed changes to NPI classification.

Trainee Permit: extension granted for a trainee for additional year. Decision to allow trainees to renew permits for one additional year to allow ample time for studying and retaking tests.

New Website info: permission granted to Kendra to proceed with Web-Design-Shop to create website at a cost of $1500 development and $25 per month maintenance.

Passing ILE Exams- George Evans made motion to go with the ILE PASS/FAIL, Marsha Mattingly seconded and approve.

Practical and Law testing dates: Licensed dispensers from other states will have to take the practical and law test. IHS practical exam will be discussed at the next meeting, after receiving the information from IHS.

Board replacement for George Evans- George will write and submit resignation letter.

WV Board of Hearing Aid Dealers

Conference Call

January 9, 2017 at 12pm 

Attendees: Marsha Mattingly, George Evans, Deborah Barnes, and Kendra Zamora

Meeting was called to order by board president, Marsha Mattingly. Quorum was established.

Motion to approve last meeting Minutes made by Deborah Barnes and seconded by George Evans

Consideration of instituting fees for testing and retesting:  Currently there is an application fee, but not a testing fee. Motion was made by Marsha Mattingly and seconded by George Evans to adopt the following schedule:

Practicum      $150.00

Retest                 75.00

WV Law test   $50.00

Retest                50.00

Motion was passed with unanimous vote.

Discussion regarding how to receive and provide requests for information and what, if any, charge should be incurred. A motion was made that all requests for information would be made to the Board office in writing and all information provided by Board office would be in written form. A charge of up to $150 may be charged for providing requested information, dependent on  nature of request. Special requests, such as special format for information, may be subject to additional charges. Motion was made by George Evans and seconded by Marsha Mattingly.

Review of previous decision to administer tests at our Board office. Next test is scheduled for Friday, February 3, 2017.

Discussion of what could or could not be provided to requestors of info and determination was made to check higher authority to determine types of information that could be provided without written consent of affected individual.

WVBHAD Meeting 11/29/16

Call to Order: Meeting called to order by Marsha Mattingly

Approval of Minutes: Previous minutes were presented and move to accept was made by Jenny Cross. Second by Marsha Mattingly and approved.

Discussion of DHHR: Kendra has Oasis training and is prepared to move forward with the move from DHHR. Deborah Barnes will speak with Clark Barnes, president of WV Hearing Society and previous State Senator, to see if he can provide any insight on how to deactivate our alliance with the DHHR and be set up as an independent board.

Financial Report was presented by Kendra and was approved unanimously-motion to approve made by Deborah Barnes and Seconded by Jenny Cross.

New Business: Testing process and procedures. The ILE will be our accepted hearing aid dispenser test. The Law and the Practicum Exams will be administered locally by our board. Also have two reciprocal ILE takers who need to do practicum and law for WV. The WV exams will be given on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 1:00 in our Charleston office. Motion to accept testing procedures and date was made by Deborah Barnes and Seconded by Marsha Mattingly.

Tru Hearing: Jason Kaposy sent a question regarding if we were able to regulate Tru Hearing (managed care) in the state of WV. We cannot regulate as long as they have authority to work in WV.

George Evans questioned a request to license someone with a felony conviction. General consensus was that we could not due to liability issues.

Next meeting set for a conference call on Monday, January 9, 2017 at noon.
